just came from watching "OBLIVION"... 

its enjoyable, edge-of-your-seat, action-packed sci-fi thriller... 

much better than "THE ISLAND".

super love the twist! worth-watching.

KICK-ASS

Malapit na lumabas ang sequel ng "KICK-ASS" so I decided to watch it na... heard good reviews noon pa when it was first shown sa cinemas... hindi naman ako na-disappoint...

Super love the movie! its a refreshing take on a superhero concept... funny, very entertaining... sana pala, matagal ko na 'tong pinanood... para siyang Spiderman slash Quentin Tarantino film with all that over-the-top violence... unpredictable ang mga situations na kinasangkutan ng mga characters... winner din ang soundtrack...

At napakagaling pala umarte ni Chloe Moretz... I became an instant fan... lalo tuloy akong na-excite sa "Carrie" remake niya.

"KICK-ASS" is worth watching... gow!

Watch na kung gusto mo maaliw ng bongga at maka-relate sa panonood ng sequel nito! :)

THE APPARITION

Just watched "The Apparition". 

Decent flick. Few scares. But nothing really special.

Umi-insidious pa sana sa dialogue na: "It's not the house that's haunted. it's you."

Ang reaction ko: CHAR!

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS

aside from Hotel Transylvania at Flushed Away, isa ito sa mga animated films na sobrang nagustuhan ko from 2012...

Rise Of The Guardians is a very entertaining movie... 

Fresh and cute ang mga characters... 

It's like watching The Avengers na ang mga superheroes ay sina Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc.

It's a quirky, magical, dazzling animation and sana napanood ko siya noon sa 3D para mas na-appreciate ko pa siya ng bongga...

ayun, tulad din ng Hotel Transylvania, na-snubbed din siya ng Oscars... mas pinaboran ng Academy ang boredom claymation na ParaNorman at Frankenweenie... at 'yung over-rated na Wreck-It Ralph...

naawa naman ako bigla kay Jack Frost, parang hindi niya deserved ma-snubbed... 

Jack Frost is too sexy to be ignored!

SPARKLE

Syempre, hindi siya kasing-fabulous ng "Dreamgirls" but "Sparkle" is still worth watching because of Whitney Houston... 

Kung hindi ako nagkakamali, ito 'yung last film niya before she died.

It's a melodramatic 'rising star' formula na punum-puno ng mga cliches pero hindi naman siya boring. 

Magaling umarte 'yung Carmen Ejogo na gumanap na Sister dito, nilamon niya ng buo si Jordin Sparks. Wrong launching vehicle ito for Jordin na hindi nag-"Spark" sa movie at all.

Dont expect too much. Just watch and enjoy Whitney's moments.

LES MISERABLES

Finally, napanood ko rin ang 'Les Miserables'...

Mabuti at nahabol pa namin ni Edwin sa sinehan. Ayun, okay naman 'yung film adaptation. Hindi naman ako pumalakpak sa tuwa after the movie, wala ring goosebumps effect or what, at lalong hindi naman siya pumasok sa listahan ko ng 'best musical films of all time'. Hindi rin siya ang tipo ng pelikula na uulitin kong panoorin dahil sa ganda. Wala namang ganung factor. Siguro sa sobrang dami ng narinig kong rave reviews kaya ang taas ng expectations ko. Ang ending, kahit sobrang ganda ng film, ayun 'chika' lang sa akin.

The film is still spectacular nonetheless. Sasabayan mo pa rin sa pagkanta sina Fantine at Eponine. At hindi mo rin matatawaran ang galing sa pag-arte nina Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway at Helena Bonham Carter. Effective na comic relief si Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat). Awkward ang mga eksena ni Russel Crowe habang kumakanta. Miscasted? Passable ang performances ng the rest of the cast.

So far, Hugh Hackman's my Best Actor for Oscars and Anne Hathaway's for Best Supporting Actress.

Silver Linings Playbook, Django Unchained, Amour and Lincoln.

LIFE OF PI

watched "LIFE OF PI" with Direk Edong Roy yesterday... 

its a magical experience... 

napakaganda ng cinematography at production design... 

this is the kind of movie na gusto mong ulitin para lalo mong mas maintindihan...

at the end of the day, nag-GOOGLE na lang ako para malaman kung ano ang ending. at sa wakas, normal lang pala na hindi ko na-gets ang ending nito (kung ano sa dalawang version ni Pi ang mas paniniwalaan kong kuwento)...

Interpretation is subjective... at feeling ko, 'yun ang intensiyon ng pelikula.

To quote film critic Ben Kendrick:

"Are you a person that prefers to believe in things that always make sense/things that you can see? Or are you a person that prefers to believe in miracles/take things on faith? There are no right or wrong answers – just an opportunity for introspection."

SISTERAKAS

MMFF Day 7: SISTERAKAS.

Funny movie but not as hilarious as Kimmy Dora 1 and Zombadings. Panalo ang lahat ng eksena ni Vice Ganda, pumantay si Ai-Ai pero hindi ang isang Kris Aquino. Salamat na lang at isa siyang gay icon, hindi na halatang hindi siya bagay sa role.

Overall, it's still a fun ride! Watch it! :)

TIKTIK: THE ASWANG CHRONICLES

Came from watching TIKTIK: THE ASWANG CHRONICLES. 

Kahit manipis ang storyline, this Erik Matti film is quite revolutionary.

Shot fully on green screen, it’s the first movie of its kind in the Philippines. 

First-rate visual effects na ngayon ko lang nakita sa isang Pinoy movie. 

Please support and watch this film bago mawala sa mga sinehan or else you'll deprive yourself of the experience. 

Nakaka-proud lang... kayang-kaya na rin talaga nating makipagsabayan sa foreign films in terms of CGI. 

Kudos sa creative team behind TIKTIK! Ang galing niyo!

SINISTER

Came from watching SINISTER with Mareng Gerlie at Megamall... 

The film's a bit of Amytiville Horror, a slice of Paranormal Activity and some Sixth Sense feel all-over... 

It's a decent horror flick with few jump scares... 

But not as scary as Insidious though... 

Next stop: TIKTIK: The Aswang Chronicles...
